Accor, the largest international hotel operator in Asia Pacific, announces the opening of Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min, the first Novotel hotel in Myanmar. Located on the east bank of the tranquil Inle Lake, this newly-built resort hotel is the perfect accommodation for both domestic and international travelers to stay when visiting this region.
Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer for Accor Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines, said, “We are excited and proud to introduce the first Novotel in Myanmar with our wonderful partner, Myat Min. This hotel will redefine the concept of Novotel’s resort hotels and showcase Novotel’s top quality, modernity and comfort. We hope that the introduction of a renowned, international-standard hotel brand in Inle Lake will entice more discerning travelers to visit this beautiful natural wonder.”
Inle Lake is the country’s second largest freshwater lake located in the Nyaungshwe Township in Shan State. The people of the Inle Lake, called “Intha” live in four cities bordering the lake with a mix of several ethnicities. As the lake is covered by reeds and floating plants, local fishermen are known for their distinctive rowing style which involves them standing at the stem on one leg to see their path and an oar wrapping around another leg that rows. Although the most popular mode of transportation to arrive at the hotel is by boat, the hotel is also accessible by road.
Mr Alain Miquel, General Manager of Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min, said “Inle Lake is one destination in Myanmar travelers should not miss. It is a natural sanctuary and one of the most famous eco-tourism destinations in the region. Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min appreciates the importance of this bio-diversity and unique natural resource, and is therefore carefully integrating Accor’s PLANET 21 sustainability programme while introducing one the most sophisticated waste water treatment systems to ensure that the hotel and nature can co-exist in harmony.”
Novotel Inle Lake features 122 spacious guestrooms, of which 60 are Junior Suites, 60 Lake Villas, and two Presidential Villas. The guestrooms are designed to reflect a comfortable, relaxed ambience with a sense of spaciousness and freedom of movement for guests. The contemporary-designed villas are set on the lake and offer tranquility and privacy that promise total relaxation to all guests. The villas have a separate living area and bedroom.
The hotel also offers an interesting selection of F&B venues. The Terrace Restaurant serves freshly prepared meals with a variety of Asian and international specialties. The Sunset Restaurant offers an a la carte menu with a walk-in wine cellar and is situated over the lake offering a spectacular view of the sunset.
